About Me

Abigail Onstott (she/they) is a composer and multi-instrumentalist based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. She is a student at George Mason University’s Dewberry School of Music, where she has studied composition under Professor John Jansen and Dr. William Kenlon, and flute under Professor Thomas Wible. An active musician and participant in her community at George Mason University, she writes pieces inspired by historical and political events, as well as identity and culture. Her compositions feature unique approaches to harmony that emphasizes music’s unique way of portraying emotion. As a performer, she has played flute with the George Mason Wind Symphony, and piano, flute, and piccolo with GMU’s New Sound Collective. She also performs as a flutist, piccoloist, and pianist around the area.
